In Paws[]

The Bear Cub is the deuteragonist of the game. It helps the player (the protagonist) find the player's mother again. It is a simple muddy brown color with lighter tan symbols on its back. It's shown as a loyal friend in the game which will never stray from the protagonist's side intentionally.

The player meets the bear cub around the beginning of the game, after the player has slept in a den for the first time without the lynx family. It is found in the clearing, sleeping, where the player must give it food in order for it to get up all the way. Once the player feeds it, the bear cub helps the player by allowing the player to jump on its back by holding space. This lets the bear cub boost the player up certain places where the player would normally not be able to go to. (However, after a boost from the bear cub, the player often has to walk over a tree so the bear cub may follow.)

Near the end of the game, the player may choose to either go back to their lynx parent as originally planned, or continue to travel with the bear cub. If the player chooses to go with the bear cub, the player will 'talk' to a star at the end of the game and see the lynx parent as a starry version of herself. If the player instead chooses to go with the lynx parent, the player will see the bear cub as a starry version of itself rather than the lynx parent.

In Meadow[]

The Bear Cub is featured in Meadow as a playable character. Like other cub animals, it may unlock the special actions play and yawn because of its cub status in the game. Its emotes have a gray background.

Trivia[]

  • It is the second most expensive 'bonus' animal to get, because in total the games cost $39.97 (Meadow not included) when nothing is on sale. The eagle is the most expensive, but it can also be unlocked through the leaderboard, so in terms of exclusively 'bonus' animals the bear cub would be the most expensive.
